MY HAPPY HOME

My brother wanted a new jansport backpack. That was what he asked for before Sendong changed everything in our lives. Last night, I did some last minute shopping, just so I can have something wrapped for the two kids. Since my baby brother lost everything, I chose to give him clothes according to my budget. Clothes at the malls are quite expensive already, so I opted to look for some cheaper ones.. Thank God I found some and when my baby brother opened his gift, he was really happy.  I think it’s different when you receive clothing as gifts, knowing that they are really bought for you than when you receive clothing from relief operations. But I know my brother is quite thankful both ways..

I am also thankful that there are people who sent and gave them presents that they may feel Christmassy despite what they went through.. I am even more thankful that there are people who still lavished the occasion with fireworks, that the kids, at the sight of them in the night sky, have marveled in their magnificent display. As if they did not go through Sendong’s wrath just a week ago.. As if they didn’t fight for their lives to survive.. Most of all, I thank God for their lives, that they lived to see Christmas, no matter how different it is from previous Christmasses..I think that is the best gift of all..
