The Move—

Published by at 9:03 pm under RANDOM POST

Today, we woke up earlier than usual because we had to move our things and our parents things to the new places that we shall be transferring. Places, since we shall all move out of the pad in a bigger space nearby and in Opol. Of course, we had to go first to Opol, in a subdivision there, where my parents has purchased a unit years ago, but did not really use it yet. It had been locked and not even prepared for occupancy yet. But since the need to move is a necessity, we had to use it now for the things that we have salvaged from our house in Balulang that had been hit by TS Sendong flash flood. But when my father saw the house that I have paid the down payment for advance rent and deposits, he said they would rather stay at that house in Opol also. I guess he is afraid of heights, or just overly seeking security, as he said the house didn’t have emergency exits. Whatever his reason, my mother is overly supportive of him, that even though the house in Opol is quite far, she wouldn’t mind for as long as they are both together.

So off we went this morning. We took some other stuff like my father’s stepper, the exercise machine he once lent me back when I was living at the orange house. I thought my brother’s sports trophies were in the boxes too, but I have not found them. Turned out, we forgot the boxes that contained them here in the pad, lol. After the first round of moving stuff, we decided to take a plunge at the beach, since the road going to the subdivision is just across the road going to the beach.

My mother’s coughing had been the reason for this, as well as the two kids’ runny noses. We only opted to pay the parking fee, and not a cottage. We stayed for an hour and a half, had breakfast since there were plenty of fresh fishes peddled and one peddler offered a minimal charge to have our fish broiled. Another peddler sold Camote or Sweet Potato and we had a hearty breakfast. We came back here in the pad, rested awhile and continued moving stuff. It was crazy. We came back again to move some more stuff, and went to the new apartment to transfer my stuff as well. We rested in between because my father, the designated driver is not that physically kept as he used to. We do not even want him to help anymore, but he does not want to stay watching while we go up and down the stairway… The craziest thing of all is that, Lili and River were too eager to help Sweet and my brother and me while we took turns moving boxes and bags, and I feel guilty because my books were the heaviest…

We have a week to finish moving, and although I am not happy about parting with my parents again after TS Sendong, I feel that this move is necessary.
